Welcome

The coal industry is desperate to secure a place in the future of the world before the emerging clean energy economy takes hold. Anxious about its ability to survive in a carbon-constrained world, the mining industry is increasingly resorting to misleading spin campaigns, propaganda and public relations to try and build its legitimacy.

But communities are fed up with the mining industry's spin.

The mining industry spends millions of dollars on its public relations. Indeed, the NSW Minerals Council is employed precisely for this purpose - to lobby the government and paint the industry in a positive light to the public. 'World Class Miners' is the latest public relations campaign launched by the NSW Minerals Council. It uses a swathe of unsubstansiated rhetoric to try and resurrect the flailing image of the industry.

Our website was established to counter some of the spin of this campaign.

Time and again the mining industry has ripped communities apart, polluted rivers, scarred arable lands and destroyed livelihoods. This website provides a spin-free account of the impacts that the mining industry is having on the community, the environment and the economy.

This website is NOT a propaganda outlet for the NSW Minerals Council. It is a response to their campaign, worldclassminers.com.au
